| nom./acc. sg. | /…/ | *314(-)sá-pa-za | KARKAMIŠ A11a, §6 (Karkamiš) |
It is not clear if the string at KARKAMIŠ A11a, §6 should be read 〈(*314)sá-pa-za〉, i.e. with *314 as a logographic determinative, or 〈*314-sá-pa-za〉, cf. the discussion below.

1.1.3.1Phonological Interpretation
Unclear. The spelling can be interpreted as /sa(N)Pa-/, /°saPa-/ or /hasaPa-/, since *314 could be a determinative, or it could represent part of the phonological form of the word either as a logogram or with its syllabic value 〈hax〉. Further evidence and a cognate link are needed to shed light on the matter. *314 is used with a number of other lexemes, e.g. /kattun(i)-/ ‘weapon’ and /kappilalla/i-/ ‘enemy’, as well as /hass(a/i)-/ ‘force’ and /hastan(a/i)-/ ‘support’ and several more, in most cases as a logographic determinative, but occasionally also with its syllabic value.

1.1.4Meaning
The meaning of this word is unknown, as neither the context nor the use of *314 aid in its interpretation, cf. Hawkins 2000a:97. KARKAMIŠ A11a, §6 reads: [*a-wa/i-m]u-tá REGIO-ní-ia *314(-)sá-pa-za kwa/i-a-ti INFRA-na-na ARHA (PES2)tara/i-za-nu-wa/i-tá, approx. /[...]=mu=tta wattaniya (ha?)saPan=za kwadi annan ahha tarzanuwanta/, translating as ‘As they (scil. the gods) overturned for me the areas (as/and?) the *314-saPa-’ (cf. Hawkins 2000a:95).
[AH.B.]
1.1.5Stem
Unclear. The context and the neuter particle /=sa, =za/ show the word to be a neuter gender noun, likely an a-stem. However, the opaque phonological interpretation puts any further analysis out of reach.
