‘to exalt (?)’1.1.1Transmission
This lexeme is a hapax attested on TL 44, the pillar of Xanthos, dated stylistically to around 400 BCE and contextually to shortly after the ascension of the Persian emperor Artaxerxes II in 405-404 BCE (Borchhardt & Eichner 1997-1999a:19f.).

1.1.2Forms
| 2sg. impv. act., 3sg. pres. act. or 3sg. pret. act. (?) | serije | TL 44c.64 (Xanthos) |
According to Melchert (DLL:128), serije is a 3sg. pres. act. form with the “ḫi-conjugating” ending -e. Conversely, Schürr 2016d:169 segments the form as seri and analyzes it as 2sg. impv. act. Sasseville 2021a:422 remains agnostic between the two options and also allows for an analysis as 3sg. pret. act.

1.1.3Meaning
According to Schürr 2016d:169 and Sasseville 2021a:422, Lyc. B serije-(ti) is a verb with the tentative meaning ‘to exalt (?)’. This meaning is assumed by connecting the verbal base ser- with the Lyc. B prefix zri- (cf. Lyc. B zriqala- ‘precinct of the acropolis’) and the Lyc. A element hr- (cf. e.g. Lyc. A hri ‘up, on (top)’, Lyc. A hrppi ‘for, on’). A meaning ‘to exalt’ is plausible for the context in which the verb appears, wherein the subject is trqqiz ‘the Storm-god’ and the direct object ekaburã ‘the relative(s) (?)’. However, since the lexeme is a hapax, no secure semantics can be established.

1.1.4Stem
According to Sasseville 2021a:422, this lexeme is a verbal stem in -ije-(ti). Conversely, Melchert (DLL:128) analyzes it as “ḫi-conjugating”. Both Schürr 2016d:169 and Sasseville assume that the initial element ser- is cognate to the Lyc. B prefix zri- and the Lyc. A element hr- (see Meaning).
