1.1.3Meaning

Torp 1900a:26 interpreted tihe as genitive singular of the Lycian A relative pronoun ti-, which is formally its origin, although it functions as an indefinite pronoun (Laroche 1960a:177f., Melchert in DLL:66, Christiansen 2020a:233, but wrongly translated as dative “to anything”, likewise Neumann 2012a:390 “to something”). The indefinite pronoun tihe, often translated with ‘any (kind of) (?)’ (DLL:66, Gehrisch 2018a:95) occurs very frequently with the noun zum͂mẽ, which is placed either before or after and denotes a prohibited action. However, since tihe does not agree grammatically with zum͂mẽ, it is possible that it constitutes an indeclinable adverbial form. Perhaps a translation ‘in any way’ or ‘of any kind’ (thus Sideltsev & Yakubovich 2016a:104) would be more adequate. Additional evidence from other contexts would be welcome.

1.1.4Stem

The indefinite pronoun tihe originates in the genitive singular form of the Lycian relative pronoun ti- (thus Melchert in DLL:66); outdated Carruba 1978b:178 and Neumann 2007a:361.
