1.1.2Forms
| 3sg. pret. ind. act. | ddewite | TL 21.3-4 (Tlos) |
1.1.3Graphic Features
Eichner 2007a restores a letter between the two dd and reads tlawad[i]=d(e) ewite, which is not syntactically persuasive. Furthermore, his interpretation of ewite as 3sg. pret. of the unlenited conjugation from the verb matching Luw. awī-(di) ‘to come’, which belongs to the lenited conjugation, is linguistically unacceptable.

1.1.4Meaning
Melchert (DLL:10) interprets ddewi-(ti) as a denominative verb derived from ddewe- ‘gift’ and thus translates it as ‘to make a gift to’ (followed by Sasseville 2021a:159; contra Eichner 2007a, Gehrisch 2018a:29). This is morphologically supported and contextually convincing.
