1.1.4Meaning

Bugge apud Torp 1900a:18 suggests that tas-(ti) is a verbal formation derived from ta-(di) ‘to place (horizontally)’, which is supported by the context. This is generally accepted (Bryce 1986a:79, DLL:60, Neumann 2007a:338f., Serangeli 2018a:321, Christiansen 2020a:252f., Sasseville 2021a:454f.).

1.1.5Stem

The Lycian formation in -s-(ti) (= Hitt. -ške/a-(mi)) derived from the base ta-(di) must be seen as late (Sasseville 2021a:455, pace Serangeli 2018a:32). Traces of the old PIE formation are found in Lyc. za-(ti). Outdated Meriggi 1930a:416, 447.

[D.S.]

For the derivational base, see Lyc. A ta-(di).
