1.1.2Forms

nom. pl. c. punemedez!i TL 149.11 (Rhodiapolis)

1.1.3Graphic Features

The word is spelled punemedeñi with an erroneous for (Meriggi 1978c:254, Christiansen 2020a, cf. Schürr 2005a:148, contra Schürr 2013a:36). Both letters look alike, which renders a mistake likely and, since the sound cannot occur between two vowels, an emendation is necessary anyway.

[D.S.]

1.1.4Meaning

The phrase itlehi punemedezi ‘the itlehi of the totality’ is parallel to itlehi trm̃mili huwedri ‘all the Lycian itlehi’

(TL 150.7-8) (DLL:53, Christiansen 2009a:49, Christiansen 2020a). Therefore, punemedeze/i- can be interpreted as an adjective in -eze/i- meaning ‘of the totality, all’.

[D.S.]

For the baes of the derivative see Lyc. punãmad(i)-.
