1.1.3Meaning
The adjective kbijẽti modifies ubu ‘donation’ and refers to the two donations that the king has received from the Persians for his services: two steles (one in Utãna and one in Kaunos) and one monument. Shevoroshkin 1979a:184 translates correctly ‘two’, while Melchert (DLL:31) translates ‘paired (?)’. Considering that other numbers such as aitãta ‘8’ and nuñtãta ‘9’ have the nt-Suffix, it is not problematic that the number ‘two’ has it likewise, i.e. kbi(je)- + -nt(i)- ‘2’.Schürr 2014a:766 takes kbijẽti to be a place name, which makes no sense in the passage.
