| nom./acc. sg. | /sarlahi=sa/ | (LIBARE)sà+ra/i-hi-sa | ALEPPO 6, §12 (Aleppo) |
Hawkins 2011b:44 tentatively emends the form attested in ALEPPO 6, §12 to 〈(LIBARE)sà+ra/i〈-la?〉-hi-sa〉, see discussions below.
The present lexeme may be attested a second time in a fragment from Aleppo, but the context is too broken to be certain, see Hawkins 2011b:43.

1.1.3.1Phonological Interpretation
Despite a single attestation, the phonological interpretation of this lexeme should be assumed to be reasonably certain. Its form and spelling connect it to the verb /sarl(a)i-(di)/ ‘to offer (in sacrifice)’, which is attested more widely, although Hawkins 2011b:44 notes the use of 〈sà〉 (sign *104) in the present word as opposed to 〈sa5〉 (sign *327) as is common for the verb, and the lack of /l/ in the attested form. However, the use of LIBARE (sign *27) and the context lend considerable support to his suggestion, cf. the discussion of the meaning below.
[AH.B.]
1.1.4Meaning
Because of its context and spelling, Hawkins 2011b:43f. suggests a connection with the verb /sarl(a)i-(di)/ ‘to offer (in sacrifice)’ with a meaning derived from it. The context in ALEPPO 6, §§11-12 runs: zi-ma-pa-wa/i-sa POST(+ra/i?)-sa (VIR2)CAPUT-ti-sa a-wa/i (*291.PANIS)tu+ra/i-pi-sa (LIBARE)sà+ra/i-hi-sa CAPERE.PANIS-sa-ha, approx. /zin=man=ba=wa=as apparis ...-ttis a=wa turpis sarlahid=sa ...-sa=ha/, meaning ‘If, on the other hand, he (is) an inferior man, (there shall be as sacrifice) bread, libation, and x’ (cf. Hawkins 2011b:45).

1.1.5Stem
The spelling of the word as attested in ALEPPO 6, §12 is assumed to be missing a sign 〈la〉, which would make it a formation in /-ahid-/ from the verb /sarl(a)i-(di)/ ‘to offer (in sacrifice)’ (Hawkins 2011b:44); the context of attestation renders this analysis highly likely, but further attestations are needed to prove it.
