1.1.3.1Phonological Interpretation
The phonological interpretation of this word is not entirely clear. Based on the context at ALEPPO 7, §2, it is possible that it belongs to the same word family as transitive /pazza-/ ‘to pass, move along’ or to that around intransitive /pa-/ ‘to go’, as Hawkins 2011b:49f. suggests. Even so, its stem shape remains partly opaque, and the attested spelling may reflect either /pazzaiHa/ or /pazzayaHa/, because the syllabogram 〈i(a)〉 (sign *209) had not yet been developed further to distinguish 〈i〉 and 〈ia〉 reliably (see Hawkins 2011b:41, 48), cf. the discussion of the stem below.

1.1.4Meaning
The meaning if the verb is largely unclear, although an interpretation as a verb of motion or movement, as tentatively suggested by Hawkins 2011b:49f., is possible, especially if either the link with /pa-/ ‘to go’ or that with /pazza-(i)/ ‘to pass, move along’ should turn out to be correct. Still, the context at ALEPPO 7, §2 is too fragmented to decide between the two: […k]ar-ka-mi-sà-ti(UR[BS)…] (DOMUS)sa5-sa5-tà-ti PRAE […] pa-za-i(a)-ha, approx. /… Karkamisadi … sasadadi pari … pazzai(ya)Ha/, perhaps translating as ‘From the city of Karkamiš, I pazzaya-ed (something?) from before the bed-chamber …’ (cf. Hawkins 2011b:48f.)

1.1.5Stem
While the form attested at ALEPPO 7, §2 is most likely a verb, its stem formation does not become fully clear because of the ambiguous sign 〈i(a)〉. The verb may hence belong to the stems in /-a-(ti)/, /-a(i)-(di)/ or /-iya-(i)/, depending on what derivational basis is assumed, cf. Sasseville 2021a:19-21, 80-82, 96f., 401-405. As a derivational basis, one might consider the likewise attested verb /pazza-(i)/ ‘to pass, move along’ or a derivative of the intransitive /pa-(i)/ ‘to go’.
