1.1.3Meaning
The word pablãti occurs in a curse formula, which has the intent of punishing the potential offender (Neumann 2007a:254f.). The subject of the verbs are tijãi ‘penalties’. Carruba 1969b:81 suggests the meaning ‘to chase away’ (followed by Melchert in DLL:47, Christiansen 2009a:47 and Gehrisch 2018a:134), which provides a plausible sense. However, his comparison with CLuw. papra-(i) is outdated. As pointed out by Melchert (ibid.), the change of -l- to -r- between -p- and a vowel is possible, but non-trivial. Taking the -l- at face value, a connection with the Lycian verb pla-(di) ‘?’ is more tempting, although it does not contribute to the semantics of pablãti. Schürr 2008b:165 leaves it untranslated but compares pabra-(ti), which is here treated separately. In any case, no meaning is assigned here to Lyc. pabla-(ti). For a list of outdated hypotheses, see Neumann 2007a:254f.

1.1.4Stem
The ending -ãti speaks for either a factitive in -a-(ti) or a root verb ending synchronically with a vowel -a; see Sasseville 2021a:44-61.
