1.1.2Forms

unclear nirat LW 12.7 (Sardis)

The hypothesis as a verbal form nirat (thus Brandenstein 1931b:6) has become obsolete with the recognition of the word wroλt as the predicate in the sentence. More promising is the segmentation nir-at (i.e. nir=at or nir=a=t, as per Melchert 1997a:33f. n. 3) suggested in Brandenstein 1931b:6 and Carruba 1969a:58.

Meriggi 1935a:115 n. 110 takes nir together with Lyd. nin, which, however, leaves the final -r- unexplained.

1.1.3Meaning

No meaning is suggested in Gusmani 1964a:175.
