1.1.4Meaning
Formally speaking, tarwayann(i)- should be an individualizing formation in -ann(i)- built on the adjective tarwai(ya)- ‘wooden (?)’, i.e. ‘the wooden one’.Contra Yakubovich pers. comm., a diminutive function is only possible if the derivational base is a substantive. It occurs as the indirect object of the verb ḫūḫuiyanda ‘they walked/ran’ and agrees grammatically with meniyalli, though considered here to be a false reading (see under lemma). No meaning is suggested in Laroche 1959a:94 and CLL:219.
