m͂qri-(ti)
‘(unknown)’1.1.1Transmission
This lexeme is attested in the inscription of the inscribed pillar of Xanthos, dated contextually to shortly after the ascension of Artaxerxes II in 405-404 BCE and stylistically to around 400 BCE (Borchhardt & Eichner 1997-1999a:19f.), as well as in the poetical inscription engraved on the lion sarcophagus of Antiphellos, dated on stylistic grounds to the beginning of the 4th century BCE (Zahle 1979a:318, Mühlbauer 2007a:91).

This word family surrounding m͂qri- often shows an additional prefix t-, e.g. utm͂qrimi (TL 55.6), which is functionally (and etymologically) unclear; see also the base m͂qre-.Schürr 2016d:165 assumes a prefix of the shape (u)t- based on utm͂qrimi, but see under Graphic Features.

1.1.3Graphic Features
Melchert (DLL:131) emends {u}tm͂qrimi assuming a dittographic mistake of the u, i.e. pinau : utm͂qrimi. This is entirely possible, albeit strange considering the word divider. Nonetheless, it seems to be supported considering that all other cases show only the prefix t-. Pending more evidence, his emendation is tentatively followed here, but cf.Schürr 2005a:155, who wishes to see an actual prefix ut-. A part of the sentence at TL 44d.30-31 has been carved twice unintentionally, whence {m͂qrimiz} is always removed by modern editors.

1.1.4Meaning
The verb m͂qri-(ti) appears to have a religious connotation. It is a denominative verb derived from m͂qre-, which denotes something offered to the gods. In the context TL 44d.29-32, it modifies tuburiz ‘vines (?)’. The meaning ‘to apportion’ suggested by Shevoroshkin 2012a:470 is a mere guess and fails to provide a coherent translation of the passages. In general, no meaning has been assigned (cf. DLL:122, Neumann 2007a:233,Sasseville 2021a:159f.).

1.1.5Stem
The verb m͂qri-(ti) is a denominative verb derived form m͂qre- n. (Sasseville 2021a:159f.).
