Sasseville 2021a:45f. interprets maxani as a medio-passive form in -ani belonging to a factitive verb maxa-(ti). This is formally possible, but it cannot be ascertained due to the fragmentary state of the context. As pointed out by Laroche 1979c:118, maxã is likely to be related to maxani. Indeed, the noun maxa- could be the derivational base of the factitive stem maxa-(ti).
