1.1.3.1Phonological Interpretation
The phonological interpretation of this lexeme is not altogether clear concerning the first part of the word, despite the fully syllabic spelling. Thus, sign *455, commonly transliterated as 〈lax〉, only occurs in TOPADA so far, an inscription well-known for its many idiosyncratic sign forms. The phonetic value for *455 is inferred from a personal name in TOPADA, §4 (Hawkins 2000a:456, 461), but an etymological connection with /luslussa-(i)/ ‘to sacrifice (by burning)’ is already suggested by Hawkins 2000a:456, implying a possibly more flexible phonetic value for *455 at least as 〈la/u〉. Shevoroshkin 2012a:473 links the HLuw. verb to Lyc. B luga-. The latter part of the stem is clear, as the suffix /-nu(wa)-/ and its set of endings are well-known from other verbs in HLuw.

1.1.4Meaning
With only two attestations and in the same text, the meaning assigned to the present lexeme is to be understood as tentative, though highly probable. It denotes a destructive action performed on buildings, as becomes obvious in TOPADA, §14: wa/i5-tax URBS+MI AEDIFICIUM-tax-na (FLAMMAE)lax-há-nú-wa/i-tax, approx. /wa=tta URBS+MI-nassa AEDIFICIUM-Tana lahanuwatta/, which probably means ‘He burnt down the city’s buildings’ in a context describing destruction being inflicted upon the lands of the author of the inscription. In §14, the verb seems again combined with URBS ‘city’, but much of the clause is broken and does not permit a secure interpretation; that the form is more likely to be a 3pl. is inferred from the context.

1.1.5Stem
The verb is a formation in /-nu(wa)-(i)/, a commonly used suffix possibly with causative meaning. According to Shevoroshkin 2012a:473, the root is cognate with Lyc. B luga-.
