1.1.2Forms
| 3sg. imp. | pád-du | KBo 4.11, 55 | (CTH 772, NS) |
| pa-ad-du | KBo 30.167 iii 10’ | (CTH 773, LNS) |
Attestations follow CLL:162 checked against the photos of the Konkordanz. Yakubovich (pers. comm.) suggests analysing pa-ad-du in KBo 30.167 iii 10’ (followed by KI.MIN 3-˹ŠU?˺[) as pa=ddu, i.e. the particle pa= with an enclitic personal pronoun, but the parallel text in KBo 4.11, 55f. shows a paragraph dividing line and EGIR-ŠÚ=ma DLAMMA GAL KI.MIN after pád-du, which means that pa-ad-du is a verb in its regular sentence final position. The parallelism of these texts shows that pád-du cannot be read as píd-du (and subsumed under piya- ‘to give’), contra Laroche 1959a:82 (with question mark).

1.1.3Meaning ‘(unknown)’
Meriggi 1953a:219 n. 67 suggested ‘to give’ and CLL:162 suggested ‘to protect’ with question mark (followed by EDHIL:612; Tischler 2008a:129, Tischler 2016a:245; Yakubovich 2010d:172; all with question mark, not included in Ünal 2016a), but as Melchert appropriately remarked, this meaning is a “mere guess” based on the similarity with Hittite paḫš- (a view he does not share anymore, pers. comm.). The unclear context does not allow the identification of the meaning.
