1.1.3.1Phonological Interpretation

The spelling of the present lexeme is as explicit as the HLuw. writing system permits, and the interpretation of its phonological form is therefore reasonably secure, not least because it involves two suffixes, /-wanni-/ and /-i-(ti)/, that are well-known from other words. In addition to that, the word is very likely a member of the family around /sur(i)-/ ‘abundance’.

[AH.B.]

1.1.4Meaning

With just one attestation in an ill-understood clause, the meaning of this word at first remained unclear (cf. Hawkins 2000a:342). The present interpretation relies largely on the morphological structure of the word, i.e. its derivational link to /sur(i)-/ ‘abundance’, cf. the discussion of the stem below.

[AH.B.]

1.1.5Stem

The lexeme is a verb in /-i-(ti)/ (cf. Sasseville 2021a:133), derived from an adjective of appurtenance in /-wann(i)-/ of the noun /sur(i)-/ ‘abundance’.

[AH.B.]

For the ultimate derivational base, see HLuw. /sur(i)-/.
