1.1.2Forms
| nom. pl. c. (?) | arsezị?[ | TL 35.19 (Kadyanda) |
The restoration with ị[ is supported by the preceding [..]erezi, with which it should agree, as well as by the traces rendered in the autography of Kalinka 1901a:32. The grammatical interpretation as nom. pl. is preferred here due to the following 3rd plural verb (]pn͂neit[), implying that the two nouns might represent the two subjects in asyndetic position.

1.1.3Graphic Features
van den Hout 1995b:110 expects a gemination of the -ss- after -r-.

1.1.4Meaning
Neumann 2007a:23 suggests that arseze/i- is an ethnicon, for which the suffix -eze/i- can be used (e.g. pttarazẽ ‘Patarean’ in M 241, ijãnazi ‘Greek’ in TL 29.17). However, it is not restricted to this function and therefore another meaning is entirely possible (cf. neleze/i- ‘pertaining to the agora’). Considering that the two nouns [..]erezi and arsezị[..] are preceded by the genitive xadawãtihe ‘of (the town) Kadyanda’, it is even unlikely that the two formations in -eze/i- are ethnica. If they are the subjects of the following verb, they might designate functionaries, although there is nothing to support this hypothesis any further. van den Hout 1995b:110 also suggests tentatively that arseze/i- is a personal name, although the collocation with another formation in -eze/i- right before renders this hypothesis less credible.

1.1.5Stem
The noun is treated here like a substantivized adjectival formation in -eze/i-, although one in -ezi(je)- cannot be entirely excluded.
