kuprime-
‘chosen (sacrifice)’1.1.1Transmission
This lexeme is attested in the poetical inscription engraved on the lion sarcophagus of Antiphellos, dated on stylistic grounds to the beginning of the 4th century BCE (Zahle 1979a:318, Mühlbauer 2007a:91).

| gen. adj. acc. sg. c. | kuprimesi | TL 55.3 (Antiphellos) |
Although a genitive plural is formally possible, we take kuprimẽ as acc. sg. (thus DLL:118), assuming that it is the direct object of the preceding infinitive verb, which is not well preserved, i.e. p̣a[.]ãna (see Schürr 2005a:121, 125).

1.1.3Meaning
Whereas kuprimẽ is found in a fragmentary passage, kuprimesi modifies kñ!ta〈q〉ẽ (pace Schürr 2005a:142), something that is offered in sacrifice. Taking the derivational base kupri-(ti) ‘to love, choose’ into consideration, the substantivized participle kuprime- likely means ‘the chosen/desired (thing)’ (DLL:118). Considering the sacrificial context and the passage kuprimi urasli ‘for the chosen/desired great sacrifice’ (TL 44d.16), kuprime- may stand for ‘the chosen/desired (sacrifice)’. Shevoroshkin 2014a:233f. claims that it refers to the “meals of choice”, which is possible, but then it would have to refer specifically to the sacrificial food offered to the gods.

1.1.4Stem
The noun kuprime- represents a substantivization of the neuter of the participle of the verb kupri-(ti).
