1.1.2Forms

nom./acc. sg. n. or 3sg. pres. act. (?) taktod LW 14.8 (Sardis)

Gusmani 1964a:208 pleads for a direct object instead of a predicate verb (as per Meriggi 1935a:79 n. 19) based on the demonstrative pronoun ešt within the same sentence, with which it would agree. Indeed, there is a parallel clause in another metrical inscription, where the form in -od is undoubtedly nominal: fak=iτ ešt inal adalλ akšaakmλ iškod (LW 11.10) ‘all this (is) for … to perform’. In the clause of LW 14.8, we find an additional dã(ν)=k=um ‘from/by me’, i.e. dã(ν)=k=um ešt šiqṛ[..λ?] šaralλ taktod ‘This for … from/by me taktod.’ Therefore, one cannot entirely exclude that takto- is a verbal form in the 3sg. pres. act., referring to the subject mršla- of the previous clause.

1.1.3Meaning

Meriggi 1935a:79 n. 19 suggests the meaning ‘belongs to’ for takto- based on the idea that dãν means ‘offering’, which is now outdated. Otherwise, no meaning has been offered, although it would be attractive to connect the root tak- (from tak-to-) with that of Lyc. tese- and Hitt. takš- ‘to join, connect, weave’.

1.1.4Stem

For nominal and verbal stems in -o-, see Sasseville 2021a:180-183, although taktod cannot be a common gender stem in -to- c. Therefore, it is either an adjective in -to-, or neuter noun in -to- n., or a denominative verb in -o-(d) derived from a nominal base in -to-.
