1.1.3.1Phonological Interpretation
The phonological interpretation of this word is likely secure. It is perhaps cognate with CLuw. ḫur- (see DCL:92 ‘to give liquid’ following HED Ḫ:397f., but cf. under lemma), and the morphology of the word is transparent, cf. the discussion of the stem below.
The logogram *522, unique to the present lexeme, has yet to be fixed with a semantic interpretation.

1.1.4Meaning
The meaning assigned to the present lexeme can be regarded as reasonably certain. It occurs in the first clause of a dedicatory inscription and clearly refers to the object at hand (cf. Hawkins 2000a:139). KARKAMIŠ stone bowl, §1 runs: za-ha-wa/i (*522)hu-ri+i-na (DEUS)ku+AVIS-pa-pa-si-na EGO i-ia+ra/i-ri+i-sa (“PURUS”)ku-ma-ni-ha (DEUS)ku+AVIS-pa-pa-sa-ti-i (DEUS)ka+ra/i-hu-ha-sa-ti (LIGNUM)ta-pa+ra/i-a-ti, approx. /zan=ha=wa hurin Kubabassin ammu Yarraris kummanihha Kubabassadi Karhuhassadi tabariyadi/, meaning ‘Also, I, Yarrari, purified this libation vessel of (the goddess) Kubaba by the command of (the deities) Kubaba and Karhuha’ (cf. Hawkins 2000a:139). Additional textual evidence may result in further refining of the meaning.

1.1.5Stem
This noun may be related to the one of the CLuw. verb ḫur-, though not attested in HLuw., creating an action noun. The added thematic vowel would have regularly undergone i-mutation, cf. Melchert 2003b:195.
