1.1.3Meaning
The noun sfatrτas is coordinated with sfatos and, therefore, designates an individual just like sfatos. Further, it is said that the sfatrτas “belongs” to the sfatos or, in other words, assists him. The suffix -τa- c. also points towards an agent noun, for which see Schürr 2006b:1577, Sasseville 2017a:137 n. 13, Sasseville 2021a:110. Gusmani 1964a:204 correctly links the root sfa- to that of sfẽni-(t) ‘to possess’ and sfato- ‘owner’. The context is still obscure and demands more research; cf. Vetter 1959a:52. Nonetheless, it appears that sfatrτa- refers to a title similar to sfato- but of lesser importance.

1.1.4Stem
The Lydian suffix chain sfa-tr-τa- recalls that of Lyc. A mla-tr-aza- c. ‘(title)’. It appears as if the agent noun formation in -τa- c. (Lyc. -aza-) simply recharacterized the older agent noun formation in -tr-.
