For the probable restoration of kbi[sñni] see Neumann 1999a:51. Schürr 1991-1993a:166 suggests restoring [kbisñ]ni in TL 26.16-17, which is possible, but very tentative.
[D.S.]
1.1.4Meaning
The adjective kbisñni modifies putu (a sacrificial animal). The word for ‘two’ in the first part of the word kbi-sñni was recognized early (see already Bugge 1897a:48f.). A convincing interpretation of the second part was offered by Neumann (apud Oettinger 1994a:323 n. 72, Neumann 1999a:50-53), who suggests the meaning ‘year’, i.e. kbisñni ‘two-year old’. Etymological evidence has been adduced by Oettinger 1994a (ibid.) to support the semantic assignment of Neumann (see PAnat. *zeh1-no- under Reconstruction). Cf. the parallel compound trisñne/i- ‘three-year old’.
[D.S.]
For the second member of the compound, see PAnat. *zeh1-no- and for the first see PAnat. *du̯o- / *du̯eh2 ‘two’.
