There is at least one persuasive Hittite cognate, i.e. arpuwant- difficult´ (HW 2nd ed.:341), but see under doppelter Glossenkeilarpūwant(i)-. The Hittite verb arpiyattari (HW 2nd ed.:340) might also belong here (see Archi 1983a:25). A Proto-Anatolian reconstruction is difficult without a cognate in at least Lycian or Lydian (for the quality of the labial) or a solid Indo-European cognate.
