1.1.1Transmission

This lexeme is found in the inscription of the inscribed pillar of Xanthos, dated contextually to shortly after the ascension of Artaxerxes II in 405-404 BCE and stylistically to around 400 BCE (Borchhardt & Eichner 1997-1999a:19f.).

1.1.3Graphic Features

Melchert (DLL:137) mentions the possibility of segmenting zbali and t[ … ] (likewise Shevoroshkin 2014a:35, Gehrisch 2018a:90), which is entirely possible, albeit difficult to prove or disprove.

1.1.4Meaning

Neumann 2007a:431 compares Lyc. A zbe-(ti), which probably contains the same base. It is also highly likely that Lyc. B zawa has the unsyncopated variant, i.e. zawa > *zwa- = *zba-. No semantics can be assigned for now.

1.1.5Stem

The word is tentatively interpreted as a denominative in -i-(ti), although the fragmentary context calls for caution.
