1.1.3Meaning
This lexeme was recognized as a reduplicated form of ta-(i) ‘to (come to) stand’ by Oshiro 1995b:294 n. 3. Rieken 2003a:36 offers a contextual analysis, in order to bring more evidence for Oshiro’s interpretation. The verb tatta- is built in BULGARMADEN §6 with the preverb PRAE-i ‘forth, away’, which Melchert (apud Rieken 2004a:466) translates as ‘to stand out’ (contra Rieken 2003a:36). His interpretation is accepted by Payne 2012a:108 n. 139.
