lijenuwe-
‘nymphaeum’1.1.1Transmission
This lexeme is found once in the poetical inscription engraved on the lion sarcophagus of Antiphellos, dated on stylistic grounds to the beginning of the 4th century BCE (Zahle 1979a:318, Mühlbauer 2007a:91), and in the inscription of the inscribed pillar of Xanthos, dated contextually to shortly after the ascension of Artaxerxes II in 405-404 BCE and stylistically to around 400 BCE (Borchhardt & Eichner 1997-1999a:19f.).

The attestation lijenuwez is misspelled as lijendwez (Schürr 2018b:58, 60, 71), and therefore corrected to lijenu!wez.

1.1.4Meaning
The substantive lijenuwe- has been semantically interpreted as ‘place of naiads, nymphaeum’ by Melchert (DLL:120) and Schürr 2005a:143 (Schürr 2018b:71). This is adequate for the context (for which see Sasseville 2021a:48):
xba[da]siz tuwemedi : lijenuwez : muwaxã (TL 44d.51-52)
‘I strengthened the nymphaea of the river-valleys with standing offerings.’
For the attestation in TL 55.1, Schürr 2005a:143 (and Schürr 1997c:137f.) takes lijenuwi as the accusative singular of the adjective lijanuwe/i- agreeing with mlu (some kind of offering), which is formally possible, although a dative singular of the substantive lijenuwe- is contextually more satisfactory.
[eb]ạṇ̃ṇu : mlu=t(e)=ene welputi : pixre : lijenuwi : pleliz : madrane : wirasajaja tm͂qrẽ : lijaiz (TL 55.1)
‘This votive offering here, Pigres welpu-s it to the nymphaeum, so that the nymphs of Phellos may madrane the wirasajaja tm͂qrẽ.’

1.1.5Stem
The noun lijenuwe- has a non-mutating common gender stem in -e-, for which see Sasseville 2021a:206-214.
