Because of the prefix fa-, Gusmani 1964a:122 suggests a verbal form of the 3rd sg. pres., which is possible but not certain, since the same prefix is also found in nominal formations; cf. fasq(i)-, fẽntašẽn(i)-. The word fatinẽd is attested next to patnẽdš, which Melchert 2004b:146 n. 11 interprets as a personal name in -ẽd- (< *-e/om- + i-mutation), equating it with the Lycian formation in -ẽi-. This is morphologically and phonologically very attractive, however, it does not explain what kind of ending -ẽd would be; cf. linẽd, amẽd and kumẽd. Furthermore, its grammatical role in the clause is unclear, as it could be a nominal form instead of a verbal one. Further research on the Lydian ending -ẽd is required.
