1.1.3Meaning
The meaning of the substantive pzzideze-, which occurs in a fragmentary passage, is obscure. A resemblance of its root with the one of the verb pzzi-(ti) ‘to instruct’ has been pointed by Melchert (DLL:54). However, considering the amount of suffixes present, i.e. -(i)d- + -eze-, the etymological connection is not enough to elucidate the semantics. The connection with the ethnicon ‘Pisidian’ suggested by Savelsberg 1878a:215 is not impossible, but far-fetched.
