‘completeness’1.1.1Transmission
Attested once in an inscription from Tell Ahmar, this hapax legomenon is dated to the late 10th or early 9th century BCE.

1.1.2Forms
| dat./loc. sg. | /suhida/ | (MANUS)su-hi-tà | TELL AHMAR 6, §9 (Tell Ahmar) |
The form in TELL AHMAR 6, §9 can formally also represent the nom./acc.pl. of a neuter noun, but the present analysis is more likely in the context of the clause.
[AH.B.]
1.1.3Graphic Features
With its fully syllabic rendition, the phonological interpretation of this word is reasonably clear, receiving further support from belonging to the word family around the verb /suwa-(i)?/ and the adjective /su-/ ‘complete, full’. Also, the suffix /-ahid-/ is well-known from other words, and the choice of the sign 〈tà〉 (*41) over 〈ta, tá〉 (*100 and *29 resp.) serves as additional proof (cf. Rieken 2008b:639). The Luwian preform */suw-ahid-/ must have later contracted to /suhid-/.

1.1.4Meaning
The meaning of this lexeme as ‘fullness’ is suggested by Hawkins 2006a:23 in his edition of the text, based on both its word family as well as the context it appears in. This is fully supported by the morphological structure of /suhid(i)-/, see the discussion of the stem below.
[AH.B.]
1.1.5Stem
Derived from the adjective /su-/ ‘complete’, the present word is a noun in /-ahid-/, a suffix used to form neuter abstract nouns, usually from adjectives (cf. e.g. Melchert 2003b:198).
