1.1.3Graphic Features
The word trijatrbbahi is sometimes segmented in the literature into trija and trbbahi (cf. Kalinka 1901a:112), although one cannot exclude a compound; see under Meaning.

1.1.4Meaning
The first member trija was recognized as the number for ‘three’ already at the beginning of Lycian studies (Savelsberg 1878a:205) and remains the best hypothesis; cf. Lyc. B trija. The word trijatrbbahi mostly taken as a compound is found within a dating formula together with pñnutahi ‘?’ both modifying uhahi ‘of the year of’. Laroche 1974b:135 takes trijatrbbahi as a compound and suggests a personal name. Shevoroshkin 1979a:186 analyzes the second member -trbba- as a word for ‘day’ and translates ‘third day’, but this is not independently supported and contradicted by its reference to the year. Carruba 1978b:168 n. 20 translates the phrase trijatrbbahi pñnutahi uhahi ‘in the year of the third election of Pñnute’ assuming that the second member -trbba- means ‘election’. However, the best approach for the elucidation of the second member would be to compare it with other Lycian roots of the shape trbb-. Wagner 2011a:149f. sees in the sentence trijatrbbahi pñnutahi uhahi the age of Merehi, the one who has built the tomb, and suggests ‘at the age of 35’. This would mean that -trbba- would have to mean ‘thirty’. This is not impossible, but still hypothetical. The suggestion of Savelsberg 1878a:205 regarding the meaning of trbbahi as ‘coffin’ is outdated.
[D.S.]
For the first member of the compound see Lyc. B trija.
