1.1.3Graphic Features
The word was previously read as [ ]a-an-ta-n(a) with uncertainty regarding its completeness; cf. Carruba 1970a:16, 50. The logographic reading and the restoration of the first sign is suggested by Melchert 1984b:40 n. 28, which is possible, but very tentative. A different possibility would be to restore the same sign, but the read completely syllabically, i.e. [a-]a-an-ta-nº.

1.1.4Meaning
Based on the context, Melchert 1984b:40 n. 28 suggests reading the logogram A.A-ant-, which would stand for /muwant-/ ‘powerful, mighty’. This semantic assignment is contextually adequate, since the word refers to a quality the Sun-God is supposed to give to the king (thus Yakubovich 2005c:115). Despite the attractiveness of Melchert’s suggestion, his hypothesis must remain tentative until a duplicate of the passage is found.

1.1.5Origin
The reading behind the logogram is a matter of speculation. No etymology possible.
