Checked against the photographs in the Mainzer Fotoarchiv. – The spelling -zu-u- with -u- on a break of the tablet is striking and, therefore, slightly suspicious.

1.1.3Meaning
The lexeme occurs in a list of three bread loafs to be broken for the god: (23’)[1 ninda.g]ur₄.ra šar-la-ad-da-aš-ši-iš (24’)[1 ninda.gur₄].ra pí-ḫa-ad-da-aš-ši-iš (25’)[1 ninda.gur₄.r]aḪI.A ku-wa-an-zu-u-na-aš-ši-iš “[1 bread l]oaf of praise, [1 bread lo]af of splendor(?), [1 bread loa]f of importance” (KUB 17.12 iii 23’-25’; cf. Görke 2015b). The meaning assignment follows the implicit interpretation by Starke 1990a:253 and 547f. n. 2027, who semantically equated the adjective kuwanzu- with Hitt. daššu- ‘heavy, important’ and pointed out the denominative character of the verb kuwanzuni-(ti). Accordingly, Melchert (CLL:115) translated *kuwanzun(i)-, the noun underlying the genitival adjective kuwanzunašša/i-, tentatively as ‘heaviness (?)’. He is followed in HHw:88 (‘Gewicht habend(?)’).Outdated Götze 1954a:77 n. 62, Meriggi 1957a:223, Hoffner 1974a:169; no meaning is offered in DLL:59, Berman 1972a:151, HEG A-K:693 and Ünal 2007a:382, except that the adjective is misinterpreted as the bread designation itself.

1.1.4Stem
The stem kuwanzun(i)- is abstracted from the genitival adjective and the verbal derivative kuwanzuni-(ti) (see DLL:59, CLL:115, Sasseville 2021a:149).

1.1.6Origin
On account of the suffix -ašša/i- and the Luwian base kuwanzu-, the Luwian origin of the noun has never been disputed, see the uniform classification as Luwian in Otten 1953a:80 n. 95, Meriggi 1957a::223, DLL:59, HEG A-K:693, CLL:115, HHw:88, Melchert 2005a:452, Sasseville 2021a:149.
