Melchert (DCL:s.v.) adopted the meaning from the putative doublet ḫuipa-(ti) ‘to do evil to’. The fragmentary context, however, does not provide any confirmation for the semantic assignment.

The participial form in -aimma/i- can belong to both the stems in -a(i)-(di) and -(a)i-(di) (cf. Sasseville 2021a:82 and 219).
