1.1.3Graphic Features

1.1.3.1Phonological Interpretation

Largely unclear, not least because the spelling interpretation is provisional. Sign *523, which is unique to this word, may be a logographic determinative or represent part of the phonological form of the word.

[AH.B.]

1.1.4Meaning

Neither the context nor the shape of the sign *523 have so far permitted scholars to arrive at any semantic interpretation for this word. AFRIN, §2 reads: *a-wa/i-mu-ta REX?-ti-zi-i *523(-)a+ra/i-ti-i SUPER+ra/i-a [...]x-ta, approx. /a=wa=mu=tta hantawattinzi …-aradi sarra …-ta/, partly translating as ‘The kings ...-ed me up with *523(-)ara(/i)-’ (cf. Hawkins 2000a:387).

[AH.B.]

1.1.5Stem

Mostly unclear, because the stem remains opaque.
