1.1.3.1Phonological Interpretation
Unclear beyond the fact that the word appears to end in /°l(i)-/. The interpretation of *485 is quite elusive thus far also because it occurs only in the present word.
[AH.B.]
1.1.4Meaning
The meaning of the word has remained opaque so far. Neither the shape of *485 nor the context provide enough clues for arriving at even a tentative interpretation. DARENDE, §2 reads: a-wa/i MANUSx(-)tu-ma-ni-i-na(URBS) *485-li-na SOLIUM-nú-wa/i-ha, approx. /a=wa Tumanin ...-lin isnuwahha/, meaning ‘I settled the *485 of Tumani’ (cf. Hawkins 2000a:305).
[AH.B.]
1.1.5Stem
The spelling hints at a stem in /-alla/i-/, which would make the noun a common gender substantivised adjective. Nothing further can be said about the stem at present.
