1.1.3.1Phonological Interpretation

Unclear. The sign *414 is known to have the Empire era value 〈hi〉, but too little is known about the present lexeme to propose a reading. If both logograms should be taken at face value, a possible phonological form could be /hihaw(i)-/, but this suggestion remains entirely hypothetical without any additional evidence.

1.1.4Meaning

The word appears to denote some kind of cult object in the form of a sheep or related to sheep, see Hawkins 1995a:96f. EMİRGAZİ 1A, §22 reads: *414.OVIS *a-pa-na ARHA CAPERE-˹tu˺, approx. /… appan ahha lattu/, meaning ‘he shall take the *414.OVIS behind away (and give them in the courtyard)!’ (cf. Hawkins 1995a:88f.)

1.1.5Stem

Unclear. Even the gender of the word remains invisible in the available attestations.
