1.1.3Graphic Features
1.1.3.1Phonological Interpretation
Unclear. The sign *279 is unique to this word. Its shape appears to be similar to *278 (〈li〉), but it has yet to be fixed with a semantic and/or syllabic interpretation.
[AH.B.]
1.1.4Meaning
The word may represent a title of some kind, as it occurs after a personal name at KARKAMIŠ A4a, §9, which is part of a string of such combinations: mu-wa/i-sa *279-la/i/u-sa, approx. /Muwas …-la/i/us/, meaning ‘Muwa, the *278-la/i/u-’ (cf. Hawkins 2000a:152). It remains unclear what kind of title the word may represent, however.
[AH.B.]
1.1.5Stem
Unclear. The sign 〈la/i/u〉 is vocalically polyvalent and the precise vowel therefore remains out of reach, at least until a cognate link or further textual evidence can shed more light on the matter.
