1.1.3Meaning

The analysis of Lyc. A ẽmi(je)- as the 1st person possessive pronoun is consensual already since Savelsberg 1878a:60f. (cf. also Imbert 1894a:253 n. 6, Torp 1901c:292, Meriggi 1936b:268f., Pedersen 1945a:18, Starke 1990a:83 n. 204, van den Hout 1995b:123, DLL:20, Neumann 2007a:82, EDHIL:115). On TL 106, it occurs twice in the phrase ladã : ẽmi : se tideimis : ẽmis, for which a translation ‘my wife and my children’ is appropriate.

[O.B.]

1.1.4Stem

While the stem is often quoted as ẽmi-, it is more likely to be a stem in -i(je)-, i.e., ẽmi(je)- (cf. DLL:20). This stem type agrees better with the the Lycian possessive pronoun ehbi(je)- ‘his, her’ and Luwian comparanda such as HLuw. /ammi(ya)-/ ‘my’.
