slãma-(ti)
‘to make into an offering’1.1.1Transmission
This lexeme is attested in the inscription of the inscribed pillar of Xanthos, dated contextually to shortly after the ascension of Artaxerxes II in 405-404 BCE and stylistically to around 400 BCE (Borchhardt & Eichner 1997-1999a:19f.).

| 2sg. impv. act. | slãma | TL 44c.43 (Xanthos) |
Shevoroshkin 2011b:154 adds slama (TL 44d.26) to this paradigm as an additional imperative form, which is formally possible. On the other hand, a substantive agreeing with (a)lbãma appears more likely, see slãma-.

1.1.3Meaning
The word slãma-(ti) is a derivative of slãma-, itself derived from sla-(ti) ‘to offer in sacrifice’ (Gusmani 1968c:15, Melchert in DLL:129, Sasseville 2021a:52). The action of slãma-(ti) is performed on various things meant to be offered in sacrificed. Melchert (DLL:129) translates the verb as ‘to furnish’, which is possible, although the morphematic meaning ‘to make into an offering’ is preferred here. Differently, Shevoroshkin 2011b:141 translates ‘to expand’, which is not contextually adequate.
