1.1.3.1Phonological Intepretation
Unclear. The fully logographic rendition of the word permits no glimpses at its phonological shape. While it is possible that the word is in some way related to /kusa(/i)-/ ‘chariot’, ROTA ‘chariot’ or – and this seems the likeliest option for using the same logogram – /zallalla-/ ‘cart’, any such link remains entirely hypothetical for now. The complex sign *92 (also transliterated as PES.SCALA.ROTAE) consists of the shape of a foot on two wheels, in this case with what looks like a ladder leading from the toe to the base of the shin, cf. Hawkins 2000a:455.
[AH.B.]
1.1.4Meaning
The interpretation is assigned tentatively (Hawkins 2000a:455), based on the choice of logogram. After all, *92 involves a set of wheels, which provides a link with the single wheel of the logogram ROTA (*292). The context at TOPADA, §4 does not contradict the interpretation, but cannot be said to support it substantially either: wa/i-mu tara/i-za/i REX-ti-za/i CUM-ni wa/i6-sa7-tax wa/i5+ra/i-pa-lax-wa/i-sax kix-ia-kix-ia-sa4-ha ru-wa/i7-tax-sa-ha *92, approx. /wa=mu tarrinzi hantawattinzi anni wassanta Warpallawas Kiyakiyas=ha Ruwantis=ha …/, probably translating as ‘Three kings were dear to me: Warpallawa and Kiyakiya and Ruwanti the charioteer (?)’ (cf. Hawkins 2000a:453). The semantics of the word are very likely related to vehicles, and with the referenced person identified as a king already, a prestigious meaning is probable, but further evidence may require a reassessment.

1.1.5Stem
While the purely logographic spelling of the word does not reveal its grammatical gender, it is likely a common gender because it references a human being. Nothing can be said about the stem formation at present.
