1.1.3Graphic Features
According to Gusmani 1964a:192, the word is probably incomplete, because it is coordinated with the following šaw]taarλ=k, which leaves a space for 2-3 letters in the lacuna, i.e. šawkorfλ[ šaw]taarλ=k. Comparing other formations in -λo-, he suggests restoring šawkorfλ[oλ (following Brandenstein 1931b:23), which is attractive but far from assured. Melchert 1994a:370 assumes the word to be complete, i.e. šawkorfλ[].

1.1.4Meaning
Since šawkorfλ[ appears to be coordinated with šaw]taarλ=k ‘and the protector’, it most likely represent an agent noun built with the prefix šaw- (Brandenstein 1931b:40f., Melchert 1994a:370, Sh. Hawkins 2013a:161); cf. Lyd. šawwasτa-(d). Brandenstein 1931b:40f. associates the root korf- with the one of Lyd. korfi-(d) ‘to undertake (?)’, which is surely correct, although it does not quite give us the meaning or the function of the title šawkorfλ[.
