Brandenstein 1931b:33 interprets lafod as a verb, which is surely correct, since it is the only plausible candidate for a predicate in the sentence. A nominal stem in -o- is thereby discarded.

1.1.3Graphic Features
Gusmani 1964a:255 n. 12 points out that the reading of the first three letters in lafod are uncertain, although we consider the reading very likely in view of laafcν occurring in the same context.

1.1.4Meaning
Brandenstein 1931b:33 suggests an etymological connection with the Lydian words šilawad and lawl (likewise Gusmani 1964a:158), which is not likely, despite the “occasional” vacillation between -w- and -f-, e.g. kuwawa vs. kufawa. His connection with laafcν ‘?’ is, however, entirely in order. Meriggi 1935a:115f. with n. 113 posits for lafod the meaning ‘amen!’, which is not likely either, especially because of the direct object linẽd and the negation nin. No meaning or etymology is suggested here.
