1.1.3Graphic Features
Brandenstein 1931b:62 suggests reconstructing [paλτa]s in LW 14.1, which is not followed here, because neither the meaning of the word nor the context is understood.

1.1.4Meaning
Relying on the interpretation of the suffix -τa- as cognate with the Luwian and Lycian suffix -azza- c. and -aza- c. respectively (Schürr 1997a:207, Sasseville 2021a:110), Lyd. paλ-τa- c. (Schürr 2000b:127) should represent an agent noun or even a professional title. Contra Meriggi 1935a:109f. n. 99, there is no evidence for the superlative function of the suffix -τa-. The context, in which the word paλτas is found, is obscure and fragmentary. No meaning can be offered; cf. Gusmani 1964a:201.
