1.1.4Meaning
Since DLL:64, the word is translated as ‘window’, based on the assonance with Hitt. luttāi- n. ‘window’ and the use of the determinative GIŠ for wooden objects (Eichner 1973a:80, CLL:130, Melchert 1994a:242 and 265, HHw:96, HED L:126). However, not only do Luwian singleton and Hittite geminate alveolars diverge, but also there is nothing in the context to support the idea, which, consequently, is not adopted here (doubts were also raised in HEG L-N:80, EDHIL:535).
