1.1.2Forms

3pl. pret. act. ú-i-wa-i-ta Privat 40 (CTH 770, N/A)

The morphological analysis follows Sasseville 2021b:177. The form ending in -aita is compatible only with a 3pl., whose nasal is graphically suppressed.

1.1.3Graphic Features

Checked against the photographs in the Mainzer Fotoarchiv. – For the non-representation of the nasal, see under Forms.

1.1.4Meaning

Due to the fragmentary context, conclusions regarding the meaning of the hapax can only be drawn from the putative Hittite cognate wiwa-(i) ‘to scream, yell’ (Sasseville 2021b:177).

[E.R.]

1.1.5Stem

A 3pl. pret. act. /-ainta/ can belong to either the stems in -(a)i-(di) or those in -a(i)-(di) (Sasseville 2021a:82 and 219).
