1.1.2Forms

1sg. pret. ind. act. da-aḫ-ḫa KBo 13.267 obv.? 6 (CTH 753, NS)
3pl. pret. ind. act. da-an-d[a KBo 58.237, 5’ (CTH 754, NS)

Carruba 1970a:72 suggests tentatively that daḫḫa is a verbal form in the 1st person singular preterit; cf. Melchert 1994a:227. Since the context is fragmentary, the grammatical assignment must remain provisional.

1.1.4Meaning

Since the context is fragmentary, no meaning can be safely assigned, but from an etymological perspective, the root verb da- is likely to be connected to the PIE root *deh3- (see PAnat. *dóh3-/dh3) as in Hittite dā-/d-(ḫi) ‘to take’ (EDHIL:803), but this is not yet provable.
