The form 〈la-la-at-˹ta˺-[〉 on KUB 16.16 obv. 9’ (CTH 570, NS) is restored as lalattaš by van den Hout 1998b:138, 280, i.e. as a Hittite gen. sg. c. form with the meaning ‘(designation of a festival)’. While van den Hout 1998b regards the word as Hittite, it cannot be excluded that it belongs to this Luwian lemma due to the broken off ending. But cf. also 〈la-la-ta-aš〉, likewise preceded by EZEN4, on KBo 26.168 i 2’, which cannot be a Luwian form (CLL:123).

1.1.4Meaning
The meaning given for this lemma follows Melchert 1993g:123 (also followed in EDHIL:804). On KUB 22.67, the word is always preceded by ANA DINGIRLIM. The verb is broken off in all instances, however. In either case, the attestation in oracle texts and gods as the indirect object implies a ritual act. With Melchert 1993g’s analysis of the word as an action noun with the suffix -tta- to the verb lālā-(i) ‘to take (imperf.)’, the resulting meaning would be ‘act of taking’ as given in the lemma heading.

1.1.6Origin
The Luwian origin of this lemma is confirmed by its transparent morphological make-up (see Stem) and more importantly by the Glossenkeile on KUB 8.75 and KBo 41.228 (thus also in CLL:123, Melchert 2005a:451, van den Hout 2006a:254, EDHIL:804).
