1sg. pret. act. /…/ sa5?-x+ra/i-ha MARAŞ 8, §9 (Maraş)

1.1.3.1Phonological Interpretation

With no obvious cognate links and an unclear sign word-internally, this verb remains without a phonological interpretation. The sign *371 is read 〈sa5〉 here, but may also represent , cf. the remarks by Hawkins 2000a:255.

1.1.4Meaning

A hapax legomenon, this verb is also without cognates so far that could aid in its semantic interpretation. The context at MARAŞ 8, §9 is broken in places, rendering the understanding of the passage difficult:This inscription presents many challenges regarding the interpretation of the layout, and thus the arrangement of the lines, order of reading. The assignment of clause boundaries presented here differs from Hawkins 2000a:253f., following Yakubovich 2017e instead. DEUS-i-zi-x-wa/i-ta sa5?-x+ra/i-ha, approx. /massaninzi=…=wa=tta …/, partly translatable as ‘I …-ed the gods’ (cf. Hawkins 2000a:253).

1.1.5Stem

While the attested form is clearly a 1sg. pret. act. at MARAŞ 8, §9, everything else about the morphology of this verb remains opaque. The unclear second sign, the underspecified vowel of 〈+ra/i〉, and the lack of a cognate link mean that neither the stem nor the stem class can be determined at present.
