1.1.3Graphic Features
All forms have been checked against the photographs in the Konkordanz (Mainzer Fotoarchiv), except for ⟨ta-at-ri-ia-am-na-aš-ši-in⟩ on KUB 35.50, a tablet of which an image is not available at the time of writing.
Note the occasional geminate spelling of the -r-, e.g. 〈ta-ta-ar-ri-ia-m[a-an]〉 on KUB 60.36. The first vowel is sometimes spelled plene, e.g. 〈ta-a-ta-ri-˹i-am-˺ma-an〉 on KUB 35.45. Rarer is plene spelling of the third a-quality vowel, e.g. 〈˹ta-ta-ar-˺ri-ia-a-a[m-ma]〉 on KUB 35.15.

1.1.4Meaning
CLuw. tātariyamman- is transparently analyzable as an abstract derivative in -mman- to a verbal stem *tatariya-. Such a stem is attested for Hieroglyphic Luwian, in which we find /tadariya-(i)/ ‘to curse’. Thus, the meaning of tatariyamman- is ‘curse’, which is appropriate for the Cuneiform Luwian attestations (thus also Laroche 1959a:95, Laroche 1959a:17, Starke 1990a:249f., HEG T/D:172, Melchert 2003b:197, Dempsey 2015a:245, Sasseville 2020b:113).
[O.B.]
1.1.5Stem
CLuw. tātariyamman- is a neuter stem formed with the deverbal suffix -mman- (see Melchert 1983a:17, Starke 1990a:243ff.) to a verbal base *tatariya- (cf. HLuw. /tadariya-(i)/).
An etymological radical connection is readily available in Hittite forms with tar-, meaning ‘to speak’, e.g. taranzi ‘they say’ (Melchert 1983a:17, HEG T/D:172, Dempsey 2015a:245). For the polysemy ‘to speak, curse’, cf. Av. zav- ‘to call upon, curse’ (Melchert 1983a:17).
[O.B.]
For the derivational base see CLuw. *tatariya-(i), but for a different radical formation, see PAnat. *tér-/tṛ-´.
